Kelly Clarkson
by: Clyde Lee Dennis

Breakaway is the latest release from Pop Superstar Kelly Clarkson, and I can only think of one word to describe this CD… AWESOME!Refreshingly, this was one of those CDs I was able to just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.Kelly Clarkson is one of those musicians that has the ability to just bowl you over with her talent. The kind of artist it’s really a treat to be able to listen to.If you’re a Kelly Clarkson fan this is a CD your collection flat cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Clarkson, or even Pop to know is good. It’s just good music. Period. While this entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 2, Since U Been Gone, track 4, Because Of You, and track 9, You Found Me.My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 7, Where Is Your Heart. You see, he wants Kelly Clarkson, the first-year winner of the screamingly popular American Idol. My brother often tells me about the virtues of Kelly Clarkson and asked me to figure out a way to satisfy his one wish.I have to admit that she has a lot of talent. My brother incessantly plays her songs and his favorites seem to be “Since U Been Gone” and “Before Your Love/A Moment Like This”. She sings them with a moderately skilled range. However, she appeals to a great number of listeners in a semi-sexy semi-cutesy fashion. She also has a clarity and familiarity of song lyrics that even I can appreciate.I think that my younger brother is really serious with his wish of having Kelly Clarkson as a friend. He just wants to hang out with her, drink coffee, go on hikes and other do similar activities with her. To be honest, I can see them as hitting it off quite well in this respect. This is because Kelly is the kind of person who seems active, engaged, dynamic, and willing to go on those mountain treks.Since my brother belongs to one of those MP3 download clubs, I can’t be cliché and give him Kelly Clarkson CDs. The next obvious thing that I can do is give him a Kelly Clarkson poster, or better, a life-sized Kelly Clarkson stand-up cardboard cutout.I have also heard about stars who are accessible for such odd requests such as making a quick video greeting or phone message. However, Kelly will probably ignore my letters and requests because my brother doesn’t have any debilitating illness or disturbing brain damage. My brother also told me that a one-time private concert won’t do because he wants to hear her singing to him every day, while delighting in her laughs.I also have obsessions of my own so I can understand my brother’s obsession. However, his rejection of the gardening tools, Anne Rice books, and pounds of chocolate as inferior gifts, along with his adamancy about getting Kelly Clarkson here in all their stead is simply driving me crazy! One of the most real, honest, unique and talented singers today is the first season American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Kelly Clarkson used to be a regular women, but suddenly she became in one of the most known and popular artists in the music media. Kelly’s life changed dramatically, from being a red bull promoter, to a Grammy winner.Kelly Clarkson used to have a very different life style before winning American Idol. Kelly was born at Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up in the small town of Burleson, Texas. When Kelly was six years old, her parents split up. As a result, her brother went to live with her father, her sister went to live with an aunt, and she remained with her mother. Her mother had several jobs in order to support the family. When she graduated from high school she managed several jobs in order to finance her demo CD. She received few responses, so she decided to move to Hollywood to look for other opportunities in music; instead, she appeared as extra in several TV shows like Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and That '70s Show among others. She remained in Hollywood, but four months later her apartment caught fire, so she returned to Texas, where she had several jobs.Kelly’s life began to change during the contest. When Clarkson returned to Texas, her friends encouraged her to participate in American idol. Kelly impressed the judges and won America’s s heart by singing with her privileged voice. Kelly performed many famous songs of Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, and many others. All the contestants must endure a lot of problems and stress during the contest. Every week someone is eliminated; contestants have to learn a lot of lyrics. They barely see their family, and they get harshly judged. When Clarkson reached the finals, she realized she was only one step from making her dream come true. On September 4, 2002, she won the competition and earned 58% of the votes.Kelly Clarkson’s life dramatically changed. Just two weeks after winning the competition Clarkson released her first single, “A Moment Like This” ; it won platinum sales. In 2004, she released her first CD called “Breakaway.” The CD sold over five million copies and won a Grammy for best Pop vocal album at the forty-eight Annual Grammy Awards in early 2006. The song ”Breakaway” won a Grammy for best female Pop vocal performance. Currently she is taking tours all over the world and impressing everyone with her magnificent voice.Kelly Clarkson’s life changed throughout the years, starting from her life before winning American Idol. Then, her life during the contest and her life after winning American idol, the competition that changed her life. I think that Kelly Clarkson is one of the singers that actually has a good voice. Now days we have many fake voices, mainly modified by computers; to have a real, unique, good singer is great. I think that she really deserved to win the contest and to win all the Grammys. We should all learn how to appreciate and to differentiate good singers, and to stop giving acknowledgments to those artists who don’t really deserve any of them.Kelly Criteria is a money management system used by gamblers that relates, or "sizes", ones' bets to ones' risk capital.Like all good ideas, Kelly Criteria stands out because, not only is it easy to understand and apply, it is fundamentally sound. This money management method allows you to stay in the game longer by conserving capital during periods of loss and also increases your positions during periods of profitability. It practically eliminates the "risk of ruin". And it accomplishes all this automatically. It is the exact opposite of the typical losers' psychological behavior, known as "steaming" or "going off tilt", when attempting to come from behind by risking increasingly larger sums in an effort to get back to "even".When they get away with it, it only encourages them. Eventually, they dig themselves deeper and deeper in the hole until they go broke. In applying the Kelly Criteria as a money management tool in a trading situation, determine the percentage of ones' capital to be risked on each trade. After the outcome of a trade, one adds the profit or subtracts the loss from ones' capital account and risks the same percentage of the remaining capital on the next trade. That's all there is to it. Simple.
